NORFOLK — A Norfolk man was arrested Friday and charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of a 25-year-old man during a party in July.
Thirty-two-year-old Demetrius McGregor has been charged with the second-degree murder of Maxie Mock and using a gun in the commission of a felony, according to the Norfolk Police Department.
McGregor is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond, police said.
Mock died in the early morning hours of July 30 after police found six people shot in several different locations. The NPD believe they were all shot at a party in the 1500 block of Azalea Garden Road.
Just before 3:30 a.m., police responded to two men who had been shot and were at the corner of East Princess Anne Road and Monticello Avenue. The men were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Shortly after that, police responded to a gunshot victim in the 1500 block of Azalea Garden Road. There they found Mock shot to death in an apartment full of people.
A few minutes later, a man and a woman arrived at different hospitals with minor gunshot injuries.
Finally, around 5:30 a.m., Norfolk detectives were notified by Suffolk police that a 26-year-old woman walked into Sentara BelleHarbour Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. She was treated and released.
