Virginia Beach woman and boyfriend among hundreds injured in Las Vegas shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH — A Virginia Beach woman and her boyfriend are recovering after they were shot during an attack at a country music festival in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Allison Crute and her boyfriend, Andrew Kampe, were two of hundreds who were injured when 64-year-old gunman Stephen Paddock shot into a crowd of thousands of people attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival, according to a Facebook post penned by her father, Allen Crute.

The shooting began near the end of the three-day festival while Jason Aldean performed. Police believe that Paddock shot into the crowd from a 32nd-floor hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Resort, killing at least 58 people, according to CBS News.

Police believe that Paddock killed himself after the attack. He was found dead in his hotel room with more than 19 rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, according to the New York Times.

Crute and Kampe were attending the festival when the shots began. Crute was shot in her radius, shattering it. On Monday, she had surgery to remove the bullet but will need another to repair her shattered bone, according to a GoFundMe page set up for her medical bills and expenses.

She was in surgery on Monday to remove the bullet, control bleeding and swelling but will need another surgery to repair the shattered bone in her forearm.
