Police have arrested two 20-year-old men in connection to several larcenies from vehicles in the Regency at Longhill neighborhood last week.

James City County Police received a phone call around 4 a.m. from a resident on Stratford Road reporting they saw “suspicious people” looking into vehicles with a flashlight, police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

Police arrived to find Marqtavius White and Tavyion Scott, both of James City County, at the scene where the resident reported suspicious activity, Williams said.

Both men were taken into custody on warrants out of Virginia Beach.

Police then searched Scott, who allegedly had two debit cards, a checkbook, and a bank access card on his person. Williams said the owners of the items reported them missing later that morning.

Police investigation revealed both men went into Regency at Longhill and rummaged through several unlocked vehicles, taking items.

Both men are charged with three counts of felony credit card theft, felony conspiracy to commit credit card theft and petit larceny.

On Aug. 10, police received 17 reports of vehicle break-ins from James City County residents, all of which occurred overnight between Aug. 9 and 10, police said.

Residents reported larcenies in multiple neighborhoods, including Founders Village, Regency at Longhill, the Pointe at New Towne and Season’s Trace. Police are still investigating those incidents.

The other larcenies may be related to the Regency at Longhill thefts, Williams said, but no charges have been filed.

Police have not recovered many items taken that night, including a jacket, headphones, a wallet, license, credit cards and cash, Williams said.
