VIRGINIA BEACH — Less than a month after it opened, a Laskin Road restaurant was burglarized, police said.
The burglary is the location’s latest in a string of setbacks.
Police say Americana Roadside Grill — the fourth restaurant to open at this location in eight years — was broken into early Sunday morning.
Surveillance photos released by police show the male suspect inside of the restaurant around 4:20 a.m. He would then come back to the restaurant a short time later wearing different clothes, police said.
Employees of the restaurant noticed it had been broken into when they arrived for work at 9 a.m. The alleged burglar took alcohol and cash, according to police.

Previously, the location near the Oceanfront was The Purple Cow, Planet Pizza, and Mexican restaurant Calliente Cantina.
After closing Calliente Cantina in early June, co-owner Baxter Simmons went in a new direction with the space and opened Americana — focusing on burgers and comfort food.
Police believe the suspect is between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs around 190 pounds and is in his 30s or 40s.
