Lightning strike starts Virginia Beach house fire

VIRGINIA BEACH – One person was displaced on Saturday night after a lightning strike started a fire in their attic, firefighters said.

Dispatchers were notified of a fire in the 800 block of Cambridge Drive around 11:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived minutes later and found smoke coming from the roofline of townhomes.

After firefighters evacuated the homes, they found fire coming from an attic. The cause of the fire, according to a spokesperson from the fire department, was a lightning strike.

No injuries were reported.
