Man hospitalized after being hit by car in Norfolk

NORFOLK — Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian after a 45-year-old man was hit by a car early Wednesday morning.

According to police, first responders were called to the 7-Eleven located at 1618 East Indian River Road around 3:30 a.m. after reports of a man being hit in the parking lot of the convenience store.

First responders found the man suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene and transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he is in serious but stable condition, police say.

No other injuries were reported by police.

The driver of the car, a 17-year old female, stayed at the scene following the collision.

Police say that the initial investigation found that the man was standing outside the 7-Eleven when the car hit him while attempting to park in front of the store.

No charges have been filed as the accident is currently being investigated by the Norfolk Police Department’s Fatality Team.

Police have not yet released the names of the man or the driver.
