WILLIAMSBURG — As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries, local entrepreneurs are being invited to learn how the technology can be used to improve marketing, streamline operations and strengthen customer engagement during a free workshop Tuesday.
“The Catalyst Series: AI for Small Businesses” will be held July 21 at the James City County Law Enforcement Center and is designed to provide guidance for entrepreneurs looking to better understand emerging technologies and their potential applications.
The featured speaker will be Trenton Ford, an assistant professor of data science at William & Mary. Ford earned a doctorate in computer science from the University of Notre Dame and conducts research focused on data science, network science, social media and misinformation.
According to organizers, the workshop will seek to demystify artificial intelligence by explaining how AI tools can be integrated into everyday business functions without requiring extensive technical knowledge.
Topics will include using automation tools for marketing and operations, understanding how social media and data trends affect market visibility and learning strategies to protect from digital misinformation.
Participants will also receive guidance on evaluating AI tools and determining which technologies may be worth adopting.
The Catalyst Series is a collaborative initiative involving the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce, SCORE Mentors Williamsburg, the City of Williamsburg Economic Development Office, James City County Economic Development and York County’s Department of Economic and Tourism Development.
