VIRGINIA BEACH — The City of Virginia Beach Department of Aquarium and Museums has announced a new history museum coordinator.
Anne Miller accepted the position in early February and will oversee the new Adam Thoroughgood Education Center’s construction, according to a Virginia Beach History Museum press release.
“I am continually impressed with Anne’s knowledge and skills of preservation, and her familiarity with our museums,” Cynthia Spanoulis, department of aquarium and museums deputy director said in the release. “I am confident she will continue to make Virginia Beach’s rich cultural history exciting and relevant for our guests, and will ensure that the work of the history museums is aligned to the city’s plan and vision.”
Miller was previously the organization’s history museums curator, supervising the opening of the Princess Anne County Training School/Union Kempsville High School Museum. She also managed Thoroughgood House and Lynnhaven House projects, according to the release.
Miller has a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University and worked with the Jamestown Settlement’s permanent gallery section before coming to Virginia Beach.
