A woman has been charged with burning down her Pewter Road home, officials say.
Anita Holcombe, 60, is accused of using gasoline to set fire to her home, located in the 3000 block of Pewter Road, around 9:40 a.m. Thursday morning, Virginia Beach Fire Department spokesman Art Kohn wrote in an email. Holcombe was alone in the house at the time, officials said. A neighbor notified dispatchers of the house fire when she saw smoke coming from the home.
Officials say damages to the home were extensive. Holcombe was the only person in the house, and she left the blaze uninjured but admitted to investigators that she started the fire.
Holcombe’s son and his wife and three children also lived in the home but were not inside at the time of the fire. All six people have been displaced due to damages.
