
Mona Foley has been elected to her first term as the Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Court Clerk, according to unofficial election results.
Vote totals from the Virginia Department of Elections show has 18,147, or 98.94, as of 8:30 p.m. There were 195 votes for write-in candidates.
All election results are considered unofficial until a formal results review, which begins Wednesday, is completed and all provisional ballots are counted.
In an email to WYDaily, Foley thanked voters and said she did not take her run for the Clerk of Circuit Court lightly, even though she ran unopposed.
“I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to serve the citizens and professional community in the capacity as Clerk of Circuit Court,” Foley said. “Having worked in the Clerk’s office for 22 years I feel that I will be able to continue to fulfill the needs of the community and staff.”
Foley will take over the position from Clerk of Circuit Court Betsy Woolridge, who is retiring.
