Five businesses in the Williamsburg Shopping Center were evacuated Thursday because of a bomb threat, fire officials said.
Food Lion, in the shopping center at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Richmond Road, received the threat through a phone call at around 11:50 a.m., said Eric Stone, a spokesperson for the Williamsburg Fire Department.
Williamsburg Fire, Williamsburg Police and the Virginia State Police all responded to the incident.
State police troopers used bomb dogs to investigate the threat; it was determined the store is safe, Stone said.
No arrests have been made at this time. The incident is being investigated by the city’s Fire Marshal’s Office.
