Toano, VA 23168
A woman was held at gunpoint while she drove with her 1-year-old child in the back seat from Norge to Toano, authorities said.
Malik Jamar Weeden, 23, is facing two felonies and one misdemeanor after the woman told police he threatened her with a pistol during an argument March 2.
The woman and child are known to Weeden, said Stephanie Williams, a spokeswoman with the James City County Police Department.
A police report said Weeden, who was sitting in the front seat of the woman’s car while she drove, told her to “shut up” and brandished a pistol during the argument.
He continued to point the gun toward her leg as she drove through Norge to Toano, Stephanie Williams with the James City County Police Department said.
The woman eventually drove to her apartment, located on Warren Court off Richmond Road in Toano, but was afraid to exit her car while Weeden continued to point the gun at her, Williams said.
Eventually, Weeden left the scene on foot and the woman called police, Williams said.
Weeden was arrested Tuesday and charged with one felony count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, one felony count of kidnapping and one misdemeanor count of brandishing a firearm.
