Ten felony charges have been certified against a Newport News woman accused of embezzling more than $10,000 from a 92-year-old Yorktown woman.
Michele Lee Conley, 42, waived her preliminary hearing Monday in York-Poquoson General District Court on 10 counts of forgery and uttering.
Three other counts of forgery and uttering, two counts of credit card fraud and one count of credit card theft were dropped at the hearing, court documents show.
Conley, who was hired to be the woman’s caretaker, is accused of using the woman’s credit card to purchase several items between January 2013 and September 2014.
A grand jury will now decide whether there is enough evidence to move the case forward to circuit court for trial.
