An 18-year-old James City County man crashed into a Williamsburg-James City County school bus Tuesday afternoon, closing Centerville Road near its intersection with Mobile Lane for less than hour, police said.
The bus was traveling north on Centerville Road around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday and stopped for a car that was making a left turn onto Mobile Lane when Marcelino Dayrit III crashed his 2008 Saturn Sky into the back of the bus, Deputy Chief Steve Rubino with the James City County Police Department said.
The bus driver and his 4-year-old son were the only people inside the bus and were not injured, Rubino said.
Dayrit was transported to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The bus and the Saturn Sky received significant damages, Rubino said.
Dayrit was charged with following too closely.
