Funeral Arrangements Set for Late York County Administrator James “Mac” McReynolds

The public is invited to pay its respects to York County Administrator James “Mac” McReynolds, who died of an apparent heart attack Sunday at age 59, at a service later this week.

Visitation with the family is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road in Williamsburg.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Williamsburg Baptist Church, 227 Richmond Road in Williamsburg.

The family asks that guests consider carpooling due to limited available parking.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, the Hereditary Neuropathy FoundationWilliamsburg Baptist Church or a charity of choice.

McReynolds, a 1977 graduate of the College of William & Mary, was the county’s longest-serving administrator.

He joined the county in 1983 as an accountant and became director of budget and accounting in 1998, according to a York County news release. He was promoted to director of financial and management services in 1992 and was appointed as county administrator in May 2001.

Condolences may be sent to the McReynolds home at 247 Kingsgate Road in York County.
