Police Investigate After Bikes Reported Stolen
The Williamsburg Police Department is investigating after a bike repairman reported three bikes were stolen from him.
Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department said officers responded to the 300 block of Richmond Road on Aug. 3 after receiving the report of stolen bikes. The repairman said he had seven bicycles locked to a tree before leaving the area. When he came back, he found the lock cut and three of the bikes missing.
The bikes were a Mongoose Hex Blue, a black Univega Viva Sport mountain bike and a white and black MTB 1500 Omega Deluxe 15-speed. The estimated value of the three bikes is $400.
The repairman said he saw a 20-year-old man in the area wearing jeans and a dark shirt wearing one of the bikes. He said he approached the man on the bike, but he sped away in an unknown direction.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
