The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is looking for the public’s help identifying a man who tried to rob the Credit Union Service Center on George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17) on Friday morning.

YPSO Lt. Dennis Ivey said the unidentified suspect entered the bank at about 9:35 a.m. and stood in line for the teller. Another customer entered the bank and stood behind the suspect, at which point the suspect exited the bank.

The suspect came back in a few minutes later and re-entered the line. When it was his turn, the suspect presented a note demanding a stack of $50 and $100 bills. The teller pushed a panic button, prompting the suspect to take his note and flee without getting any money, Ivey said.

There is not currently a vehicle description.

The Credit Union Service Center was also robbed in August 2012. The suspect in that robbery pleaded guilty in February and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
