Historic Triangle Under Tornado Watch

nwslogoThe National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the City of Williamsburg and both James City and York counties.

The watch, which means weather conditions are capable of producing a tornado, is in effect until 7 p.m. It will be upgraded to a warning if a tornado is sighted.

NWS predicts thunderstorms with heavy rainfall for the Historic Triangle, with damaging wind gusts and large hail possible later today.

All prep sports contests in the area have been postponed, marking the third consecutive day weather has affected the schedule for Bay Rivers District teams.

The weather has caused the York County School Division to cancel the public hearing scheduled for tonight at Bruton High School to receive input on the superintendent search. A second hearing remains scheduled for 7 p.m. May 7 at York High School.
