York Supervisors Seek Applicants for Historical Committee

YorkCountyLogoThe York County Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants to serve on the county’s Historical Committee.

The committee works as an advisory body for the board on matters related to history throughout York County.

Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at York Hall. The committee also conducts lectures, tours and creates publications related to the county’s history as well as sponsoring a Memorial Day poster/essay contest for York County students.

The committee oversees planning the Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies at York Hall. Those events bring several organizations and groups to Yorktown to honor residents of the county who have served or are serving in the military. The committee also conducts the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

Citizens interested in applying to be appointed should get an application from the County Administrator’s office on Ballard Street in Yorktown or call 890-3320. Applications are also accepted online.
