Lakeside Drive will be closed to through traffic this weekend as Virginia Department of Transportation contractor crews continue to work on the road.
The road will be closed to through traffic between Beechwood Drive and Bailey Road as crews work to install concrete storm sewer pipe as part of the Lakeside Drive Improvement Project. Residents who live in that area will have access to their homes at all times.
The detours will be as follows:
Westbound traffic on Lakeside Drive:
Turn left onto Showalter Road
Turn right onto Ella Taylor Road
Follow to George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17)
Eastbound traffic on Lakeside Drive:
Take Route 17 to Ella Taylor Road
Turn left onto Showalter Road
Follow to Lakeside Drive
The work depends on weather conditions. Signs will be placed to alert drivers of the detour and road closure.
