The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection to a series of residential burglaries that occurred from Aug. 27 to Tuesday along roads near Hampton Highway in Tabb.
Deputies arrested 20-year-old Codi Alexius Taylor of the 400 block of St. Clair Circle in Yorktown. He is facing multiple charges of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary along with one count of petit larceny and one count of possession of burglary tools, said Lt. Dennis Ivey of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s office. Taylor was taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
The investigation into the five burglaries — two of which featured stolen items — continues as deputies look for three more men they believe are connected. Ivey identified those men as 20-year-old Elijah Aimen Joyner of Greenville, N.C., 21-year-old Malik Jihad Adams of Winterville, N.C., and 21-year-old Christopher Delante Moore of Greenville, N.C. Warrants have been obtained for those men on the same charges.
Ivey said a deputy responding to one of the burglaries wrote down the license plate number of a vehicle he observed leaving the subdivision shortly after one of the burglaries occurred. Investigators followed up on that vehicle and identified suspects. Some of the stolen property has been recovered.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help in identifying suspects Wednesday, saying burglars approached homes and rung the doorbell several times to determine if anyone was home before breaking in. In one case, a person woke up to a burglar shining a flashlight in his or her face before a dog chased the burglary away.
