JCC Hosts Rural Photo Contest

James City County is having a photography contest to find out what rural means to county citizens.

All residents and businesses can send photos of county or non-county locations that define rural. The photos should include a caption with a location, why the location was selected and contact information for the photographer.

Photos are due Friday, July 12 and can be emailed to [email protected], submitted via Facebook or mailed or hand-delivered to James City County Planning Division, Attn: Leanne Reidenbach, 101-A Mounts Bay Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.

Entrants will be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket donated by a local business. Multiple photo submissions will result in multiple entries into the drawing, which will take place Monday.

All photos will be posted on the county’s Facebook page and will be available in Building A at 101 Mounts Bay Road.

An educational panel about rural-related topics will take place in June and in July, the county will use the photos to help define what rural means to the county.

High-quality digital jpeg photos with a maximum 2MB size are preferred. Photos will become James City County property and may be used for promotion, publication or exhibit. Photos must be non-copyrighted, non-copied originals. People in the photos must be identified; children age 17 and younger must have parent or guardian approval to appear in the photo.

For more information, contact the Planning Division at 757-253-6685 or email [email protected].
