James City County celebrated two business expansions in the county: one in Toano’s Jacobs Industrial Park with a groundbreaking ceremony and one on McLaws Circle with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Creative Cabinet Works is expanding into Jacobs Industrial Park where it will construct a 17,000-square-foot showroom and cabinetry fabrication operation. The business is owned locally and currently has a showroom located next to the Kristiansand subdivision at 7191-A Richmond Road in the Norge area of Williamsburg.
Creative Cabinet Works, which has been around for nine years and has 11 full-time employees, designs and builds custom cabinetry with the goal to achieve the highest quality. The wood products Creative Cabinet Works uses are from the U.S. and are certified as environmentally friendly.
“We’re a local, small family business so we just value that outlook and feel like if we’re putting our name on it we want it to be things that are made here within the states and grown here,” said Doug Hogue, owner and general manager.
The company’s employees have experience in kitchens, bathrooms, closet systems, built-in bookcases, fireplace surrounds and other custom residential projects. They also build for restaurants, medical and other offices and assisted living and retirement facilities.
With the expansion, about five to 10 new jobs will be created over time. The new facility is expected to be completed in the fall.
Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases, PC

Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases, PC commemorated its 1,500-square-foot expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The business’ services include diagnosing and treating the full spectrum of arthritic disorders, systemic autoimmune disorders, regional pain syndromes and osteoporosis.
A third rheumatologist, Dr. Michael Laccheo, will join the practice in June. Laccheo will join rheumatologists Dr. Christopher Hakim and Dr. Elena Flagg and nurse practitioners Misty Mason and Mary Lou Vallone. The practice, which opened in 1986, has 20 employees.
The office is located in the Quarterland Commons Condominiums of Busch Corporate Center.
