The Historic Triangle has plenty of activities at its most historic sites planned for residents and tourists to celebrate Memorial Day. Here’s a listing of today’s local events:
Colonial Williamsburg
- 10 to 11 a.m.: Enjoy a procession with Fife and Drum from the Governor’s Palace to Bruton Parish Church and the French gravesite, where there will be a wreath-laying and volleys fired at each stop.
- Colonial Williamsburg is offering free admission to service members, reservists, retirees, veterans and their families for Memorial Day Weekend.
Yorktown
- 8 to 9:30 a.m.: A ceremony unveiling the wayside sign, which will mark Yorktown’s history as a slave port. Click here to read WYDaily’s story on the marker.
- 10 to 10:45 a.m.: A ceremony at Grace Church will honor more than 65 veterans who are buried in the cemetery.
- 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: The Fifes and Drums of York Town will perform at York Hall for its Memorial Day performance.
- Noon to 1 p.m.: The York County Historical Committee hosts a Memorial Day ceremony that will include historical re-enactors and the posting of colors at York Hall.
