A 16-year-old Jamestown High student is charged with bringing two drugs to school, including a hallucinogen, and giving it to a classmate, according to James City County Police.
On April 24, officers were dispatched to Jamestown High regarding two students suspected to be under the influence of drugs, said police spokesperson Maj. Steve Rubino. After questioning the students, officers seized suspected narcotics from a 16-year-old male student. The drugs were sent to a state lab for testing, the results of which showed the student was in possession of powdered dimethyltryptamine, a Schedule I drug, and one tablet and two pieces of Alprazolam, a Schedule IV narcotic that’s sold under the trade name Xanax and used to treat anxiety disorders.
The student told police he brought the drug to school and provided his classmate with the drug, Rubino said.
Dimethyltryptamine is a hallucinogenic drug also known as DMT.
The student has been charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance on school property with the intent to distribute, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance on school property with the intent to distribute, and one count of possession for each of the narcotics.
