The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department is looking for 52-year-old Joseph Jack Yancey in connection with six felony counts of obtaining money by false pretenses.

Yancey allegedly defrauded someone out of several thousand dollars, said Lt. Dennis Ivey of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department. Ivey could not reveal anything about the method of fraud nor an exact total, as the investigation is ongoing.

The alleged crimes took place between Jan. 10 and March 15. He said there is no reason to believe Yancey could attempt to defraud anyone else in York County.

Ivey said Yancey may be driving a gold Nissan Quest van with the Virginia license plates JJYPKID. He is last known to live at the 3500 block of Waldrop Church Road in Louisa, a small town about 30 miles northwest of Richmond.

He is a 5-foot-7 and 235 pound black male with black hair and brown eyes, according to a news release.

Dun and Bradstreet, a company that tracks information on businesses and corporations, lists Yancey Properties LLC, in the 3500 block of Waldrop Church Road in Louisa. According to their website, Joey Yancey is listed as the contact, and the company was founded in 2010. It draws an annual revenue of $160,000 and employees three people. The company does not appear to have an official website.
