A man was arrested Tuesday morning in Williamsburg after he allegedly prohibited a woman from leaving a room at the Super Eight Hotel on Second Street.
Officers responded to a reported dispute around 4 a.m. When they arrived, they spoke with several witnesses and the alleged victim, who said 25-year-old Lee Nie Washington was driving around the parking lot intoxicated, said Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department.
Riley said officers went to look for Washington, who they found walking around the parking lot. The officers discovered he was intoxicated, so they arrested him for drunk in public.
They were then able to talk to the alleged victim about what happened. She said they were arguing in one of the rooms of the hotel, and when she attempted to leave, she was stopped by Washington. He then forced her into the bathroom, Riley said. She tried to leave again and was stopped by Washington, who grabbed her and pulled her back.
Riley said she was eventually able to get away. She got outside the room and began banging on all the doors she could find to ask somebody to help her, and that’s when police were called. The other witnesses who spoke to the officers were the people who assisted her.
Washington was charged with abduction, assault and drunk in public. He was arrested and is currently in custody at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
