A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday by Williamsburg Police after he allegedly brandished a 9mm handgun during a fight in the 100 block of Merrimac Trail.
Police arrested James City County resident Dwayne Reid, said Major Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department. Around 4:10 p.m. Thursday police received a report of a fight between several people, one of whom had a gun, according to the person who made the report. En route, officers received a description of the suspect. They discovered Reid walking away from the area where the fight was reported. Riley said Reid matched the description, and officers found a handgun on his person.
It was determined that three to four people were involved in the fight, and police believe Reid drew his weapon in the course of the fight. The firearm was not discharged, Riley said. Nobody else was arrested.
Reid was transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
