WILLIAMSBURG — Award-winning visual storyteller Phil Audibert will reveal the art and craft of documentary filmmaking Wednesday, June 4 at the Stryker Center.
The free event is a collaboration between the Chesapeake Bay Writers and the Williamsburg Regional Library.
Audibert, whose lifelong career in photography, journalism and documentary filmmaking has earned him 20 first-place honors and Best in Show from the Virginia Press Association for his acclaimed series The Insider in The Orange County Review. A frequent contributor to The Virginia Sportsman Magazine, Audibert brings a journalist’s curiosity and a filmmaker’s eye to every project, according to Chesapeake Bay Writers.
In this talk, “Video Documentaries: From Writing to Staging,” Audibert will share how stories move from concept to camera. Drawing on his diverse background as a former radio news director, cattle farmer, innkeeper, and historical tour guide, he’ll explore how real-life experience fuels compelling narratives, the group said.
Audibert works in creative partnership with his wife Susie, whose instinct for visual composition shapes their award-winning documentaries — many of which are featured on their YouTube channel, the organization noted.
Whether a writer, videographer or curious creator, Chesapeake Bay Writers promises the talk will offer inspiration and insight from a seasoned storyteller who’s done it all.
This event takes place from 11 a.m. to noon at the Stryker Center, Room 127. Register at chesapeakebaywriters.org.
