Parker Harrison Davis of Yorktown Graduates from Mars Hill University
Parker Harrison Davis of Yorktown was among nearly 200 students to receive degrees from Mars Hill University during spring commencement on Saturday, May 10.
Davis received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Western Carolina University Fall 2024 Chancellor’s List

Western Carolina University congratulated more than 2,900 students named to the Chancellor’s List for Spring 2025. To qualify for this honor, students must achieve a GPA of 3.8 or higher. Students named to the Chancellor’s list are also named to the Dean’s List.

Benjamin Youngs named to Western Carolina University’s Spring 2025 Dean’s List
Benjamin Youngs of Toano was being named to the Western Carolina University Spring 2025 Dean’s List.
Youngs was among more than 1,600 students to achieve this honor. To qualify for this honor, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
WCU is the westernmost institution in the University of North Carolina System.
Shenandoah University Sends Students to the NCAA Men’s Final

This spring, Shenandoah University sent a group of students, including Samuel Tighe from Williamsburg, to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, to gain hands-on experience in the field of sport management.
The trip, performed in collaboration with On Location, an NCAA partner dedicated to enhancing the premier fan experience for sporting events, allowed students to lend a hand in performing duties related to game-day operations, and provided opportunities to tour several facilities and meet industry professionals.
In addition to providing game-day support during the two semifinal games and the national championship between Florida and Houston on April 7, students received private tours of the Valero Open PGA Tournament; the University of Texas Athletics Hall of Fame and Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium; and Q2 Stadium, home of FC Austin of the MLS. The group met with several industry executives and professionals as well to learn more about the behind-the-scenes elements of sporting events.

Shenandoah University Announces 2025 Student Leadership Award Winners

On April 27, Shenandoah University announced the 2025 winners of its Student Leadership Awards, which included Jesse Eagle of Seaford, during a ceremony in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. This year, there were 53 total nominees for 12 awards.
Jesse Eagle was recognized as Inclusion Advocate, awarded to a first-year or transfer student who takes a proactive stance on inclusion and diversity, while retaining the essence of leadership and student engagement, according to the university. The student achieves academic success and actively champions diversity and inclusivity, serving as a role model to their peers.
Eagle is a senior studying music education, and was awarded for outstanding kindness and affinity for making students feel included, the university said. Eagle’s nominator shared that he listens to others, takes the time to find out who they are as individuals, looks beyond the stereotypes, and is accepting of others as they are in the moment.
Radford University Announces Spring 2025 Graduates

Nearly 1,400 graduates were awarded degrees during two main ceremonies, the graduate commencement and hooding on May 9, in the Dedmon Center and undergraduate commencement on May 10 on Moffet Lawn at Radford University.
The keynote speaker was Kwabena Osei-Sarpong, a 2005 Radford alumnus and CEO of RIFE International.

Students at Cedarville University have been named to the Dean’s Honor List for the Spring 2025 semester. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Nicholas DeJesus Graduates from Bob Jones University

Nicholas DeJesus, a resident of Williamsburg, was among over 600 students who graduated from Bob Jones University Friday, May 9.
DeJesus graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Business Administration.
Located in Greenville, South Carolina, Bob Jones University provides a regionally accredited Christian liberal arts education and has over 2,000 students from nearly every state and more than 40 countries.
Bridget Jane Palermo Earns Degree from Muhlenberg College

Bridget Jane Palermo of Williamsburg earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Muhlenberg College this May. A member of the Class of 2025, and a graduate of Jamestown High School, Palermo majored in Music and Theatre at the college. Commencement was held Sunday, May 18.
Ceremony speakers include award-winning psychologist and Muhlenberg honorary degree winner, Beverly Daniel Tatum, President Kathleen E. Harring and graduating students Teigan Brown and Christine Compton. An honorary degree was also awarded to 2008 alumna Jacy Good.
Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg is a four-year residential, liberal arts college located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with nearly 2,000 bachelor’s and master’s degree-seeking students.
Belmont University Announces Spring 2025 Dean’s List Honorees

Belmont University recently released the Dean’s List for the spring 2025 semester. Approximately 47% of the University’s 6,912 undergraduate students qualified for the spring 2025 Dean’s List.
Dean’s List eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
