YORK COUNTY — A Newport News man was killed early Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in York County, according to Virginia State Police.
State police responded at about 4:33 a.m. July 1 to the westbound lanes at the 237-mile marker, where a vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.
The driver, 27-year-old Tyrique Gilliam of Newport News, died at the scene. His next of kin has been notified, authorities said.
A 20-year-old female passenger was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
