YORK COUNTY— Two Yorktown teens have been charged in connection with a Feb. 8 vehicle fire that investigators determined was intentionally set, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and units from York County Fire and Life Safety responded about 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 to Peninsula Heavy Duty in the 7600 block of George Washington Memorial Highway for a report of multiple vehicles on fire. When crews arrived, they found several vehicles stored on the property had sustained burn damage.

An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Fire and Life Safety personnel determined the fire was the result of arson. Damage is estimated to exceed $10,000.

On Feb. 11, investigators arrested Varry Darnell Shannon, 18, of Yorktown, and a 17-year-old Yorktown male. Each is charged with four counts of felony arson.

Investigators said additional charges are pending after authorities determined both suspects may be connected to other unsolved arson cases in York County and surrounding jurisdictions.
