
JAMES CITY COUNTY — A South Carolina carjacking suspect was arrested Sunday in James City County after the department received a Flock camera alert.
According to the James City County Police Department, at approximately 10:57 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, it received the Flock camera alert on a vehicle stolen during an armed carjacking in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at 4 a.m. that morning.
At approximately 11:10 a.m., police said officers located the vehicle in the 8500 block of Route 199 eastbound and initiated a traffic stop. When the driver failed to comply, officials said police deployed a tire deflation device that was successful in causing the vehicle to come to a stop in the 2000 block of Pocahontas Trail.
Following a brief foot pursuit, police said the suspect, 21‑year‑old Angel Gabriel Smith of the 900 block of 4th Ave. N. in Myrtle Beach was taken into custody. He has been charged by JCCPD with felony evading and eluding, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and driving with a suspended license.
Smith is being held without bond at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, where he faces additional charges from Myrtle Beach Police.
