WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Police have charged two people in connection with a shooting on the 100 block of Mimosa Drive Sunday afternoon.
According to officials, Tina Haskett, 33, and Clinton Perry Jr., 31, both of Dendron, have been arrested and charged.
Haskett has been charged with malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Perry has been charged with attempted malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, and felony hit and run.
According to officials, Williamsburg Police and Fire responded to a call for a gunshot wound on the 100 block of Mimosa Drive at approximately 2:13 p.m. Nov. 16.
Emergency personnel found a 38-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper chest, officials said. He was initially transported to Riverside Doctors’ Hospital and then transferred to a trauma center. He is in stable condition and expected to recover.
A preliminary investigation indicated Haskett, Perry, and the victim were engaged in a verbal altercation prior to the shooting. Police believe that as the two suspects left the scene in a vehicle, Perry, who was driving, ran into the victim with the car, and then Haskett fired a pistol from the vehicle, striking the victim in the upper body.
Within minutes, officials said police had identified the suspects and their vehicle, and they were quickly detained without incident following a traffic stop.
The incident remains under investigation by the Williamsburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau.
The Williamsburg Police Department thanked the Surry County Sheriff’s Office, William & Mary Police Department, James City County Police Department, the York County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Wildlife Resources for their assistance with the investigation.
