YORK COUNTY — A Williamsburg woman was charged with possession of a firearm on school property Friday after leaving her purse at the Bruton High School auditorium after an event Thursday evening.
According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, on May 23, the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer at Bruton High School was notified that a member of the school staff had found a purse containing a firearm in the school auditorium.
The School Resource Officer determined that the purse belonged to an adult who had attended a band concert the night before, conducted an investigation and obtained a warrant.
As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Rebecca R. Sandoval of Williamsburg was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property — a felony.
