YORK COUNTY— York County Fire and Life Safety is inviting community members to its Whole Blood program blood donation drive by from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Fire Station #1.
The Whole Blood Program, launched last year by the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety, is a new emergency medical initiative that allows trained first responders to carry and administer whole blood directly at the scene of critical incidents or while transporting patients to a medical facility. The program was developed through years of planning in collaboration with regional medical partners and local blood donors, and York County has trained its EMS personnel to safely use this lifesaving resource.
York County states donations collected at this drive will stay within the community to help residents, neighbors, and visitors when they need it most.
Both scheduled appointments and walk-ins are welcome. To register in advance, visit donate. thebloodconnection.org.
York County Department of Fire and Life Safety say blood donations play a critical role in emergency medical care and help ensure lifesaving blood is available when seconds count.
