
WILLIAMSBURG — The Virginia Racial Healing Institute announced a contribution from Sentara Health to support the 6th Annual Heal Williamsburg/Heal the Nation Community Forum Saturday, Nov. 15.
The Virginia Racial Healing Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our community
The forum is designed to foster “unity in the community,” according to the nonprofit. The event will include lunch, arts and crafts, and a community forum led by DeVeria Gore, an executive board member of the Virginia Racial Healing Institute. The forum will examine the challenges of interracial marriages and raising biracial children. Each panelist will share from their unique personal perspectives. A question and answer period will follow.
Panelists include:
- Timothy Barko, Chair of the Science Department, Walsingham Academy
- Angelia Kane, Emmy award-winning producer and co-owner of historic Jolly’s Mill Pond
- Prell Gross, Certified Counselor and Co-owner of Peace ‘In ‘It Counseling
- Eileen O’Brien, Professor of Sociology, William & Mary
The event will be take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Stryker Center and is organized by Coming to the Table-Historic Triangle, a program of Virginia Racial Healing Institute.

Their generous contribution and continued support reinforces their commitment to creating healthier communities through partnerships and philanthropy,” said Laura Hill, Executive Director of Virginia Racial Healing Institute.
“We are looking forward to bringing the Greater Williamsburg community together for a day of good food, good music and courageous conversations aimed at relationship and community building,” she added.
The Virginia Racial Healing Institute is co-sponsoring a Food Drive to benefit Grove Christian Outreach Center’s pantry. Attendees are asked to consider bringing a healthy food item to donate during the event.
