WILLIAMSBURG — Silver Hand Meadery is celebrating its 10th Anniversary Saturday, Nov. 15, with a daylong event at its Monticello Avenue location in Williamsburg.

The award-winning producer of honey wines has grown from a 1,300-square-foot operation with no employees into a thriving local business spanning three buildings and employing a team of 20.

“When I think about those early days, I still don’t know how we found the time to make everything happen while raising a young family and navigating life in a new city and country,” said Founder and Owner Glenn Lavender. “What I do know is that we wouldn’t have made it without the people around us. Friends, family, and our amazing team have made Silver Hand Meadery what it is.”

10th Anniversary Celebration festivities include:

  • Double Mead Release: Frozen Apple (an iced cyser) and Purple Rain (a tart, fruit-forward mead)
  • Founder’s Tasting with Glenn Lavender at 11 a.m.: A guided tasting experience highlighting meads that shaped Silver Hand’s story, complete with stories behind each creation and an etched crystal glass to take home. (Tickets required; purchase at silverhandmeadery.com/upcoming-events)
  • Live Music: Nathan Lienard from noon to 3 p.m. and Timothy Seaman from 4–7p.m.
  • Food Specials: Available throughout the day

Over the past decade, Silver Hand Meadery notes it has welcomed thousands of visitors, introduced countless people to mead, and become a fixture of the Williamsburg craft beverage scene. But for Lavender, the real reward has always been connection.

“Our guests’ faces light up when they discover how different honey varietals can taste or how delicious and elegant mead can be,” Lavender said. “Honey and mead are endlessly fascinating, but it’s the people sharing them who create the experiences guests remember long after they leave.”

Looking ahead, Silver Hand Meadery said it remains committed to its founding values of stewardship, sustainability, education, and kindness — and to creating experiences that bring people together.

“As we look to the next ten years, we’ll keep finding ways to connect with more people and create meaningful experiences that encourage everyone to savor what is good together,” said Lavender.

The 10th Anniversary Celebration takes place Saturday, Nov. 15, at Silver Hand Meadery in Williamsburg.
