Public Meeting on School Operations for James City County Citizens set for Thursday

JAMES CITY COUNTY — Citizens are invited to attend a meeting about public school operations in James City County (JCC) on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at the JCC Government Center.

Gaston Educational Consulting will give an overview of its study examining the potential effects of splitting Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools operations.

The Feasibility Study and Transition Plan, completed by Gaston Educational Consulting, lays out the effects of creating a separate Pre-K-12 school division ahead of possible deconsolidation of the joint Williamsburg-James City School division was originally presented to the JCC Board of Supervisors during its June 25 meeting.

The City of Williamsburg presented its Independent School System Feasibility Study during the March 11 Williamsburg City Council work session.

The meeting will include opportunities for public input along with a question-and-answer session.

The meeting will take place JCC Government Center located at 101 Mounts Bay Road in Building F.

Registration is encouraged but not required.
