WILLIAMSBURG — Local nonprofit CultureFix saw record numbers of attendees for its Fourth Annual Christmas Market, which ran for 18 days in November and December on Court Street in Downtown Williamsburg.
Set up to be reminiscent of a traditional European Christmas Market, CultureFix believes that this is one of the biggest events put on in the City of Williamsburg, with record numbers seen each year it has been held.
This year, 59,380 people came through the market gates, with 57% coming from out of town, a significant increase over last year’s attendance of 45,000.
Attendees enjoyed shopping from over 64 different rotating craft vendors, and more than
6,000 cups of warm Gluhwein were served. Entertainment included a daily visit from Santa, live performances from the market stage, and roaming entertainers. Traditional Christmas market food was featured.
New this year was a holiday-themed train that ran through Bicentennial Park and a petting zoo.
CultureFix’s next event will be the 10th Annual Winter Blues Jazz Festival, featuring four days of live music Jan. 12-15,. Scheduled artists include Grammy Nominated musician Alfredo Rodriguez, Good Shot Judy, No BS! Brass, and more. Tickets are available at winterbluesjazzfest.com
