WILLIAMSBURG – Hawaiian island fusion restaurant Aloha Tiki hosted a ribbon-cutting with the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 4, following a soft opening on May 1.
Owned by Kai Yang, the restaurant serves Hawaiian island fusion cuisine that blends modern American flavors with Asian influences. It’s located at 4903 Courthouse St. in New Town, the former home of Pho 79.
“We wish you all the best and all the success,” said James City County Board of Supervisors member Jim Icenhour at the event.
The idea for the location came about a year ago, according to Yang, New Town was chosen for its central spot in Williamsburg as a way to bring Hawaiian-inspired cuisine to the area.
Yang credits the restaurant’s service to the spirit of ohana, meaning family, and says the goal is for guests to feel welcomed, like part of the family, from the moment they walk in.
“What we are most excited about is meeting the people of Williamsburg, building real connections, and becoming an active part of the community,” Yang stated in an e-mail.. ”Giving back and growing with the community is very important to us.” to WYDaily.
Yang was not in attendance. Manager Adreana De Rosier cut the ribbon in his place, joined by staff.
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit alohatikiva.com.
