VDOT’s Weekly Hampton Roads Lane Closures Report for April 14-20

HAMPTON ROADS — VDOT’s list of full closures of interstates, ramps, bridges and primary roads, and single-lane closures at the bridge-tunnels the week of April 14-20.

Bridges and Tunnels

Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel, I-664:

• Alternating, single-lane closures in both directions April 14-18 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Alternating, single-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:
  • Southbound April 15-17
  • Northbound April 17-18

James River Bridge, Route 17: 

• Mobile, single-lane closures southbound April 15-19 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge, Route 17: 

• Single-lane closure, including brief, intermittent stoppages southbound April 14 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Mobile, single-lane closures northbound April 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Berkley Bridge, I-264:

• Single-lane closures eastbound April 17-18 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

HRBT Expansion Project:

• Information about lane closures and other project impacts related to the HRBT Expansion Project.

Elizabeth River Tunnels (Downtown/Midtown Tunnels):

• Information from Elizabeth River Tunnels for maintenance schedules and lane closures on the Downtown Tunnel (I-264), Midtown Tunnel (U.S. 58) and MLK Expressway (Route 164).

I-64

I-64, Southside Widening, High Rise Bridge Expansion:

• Information about lane closures and other project impacts related to the I-64 Southside Widening High Rise Bridge Expansion.

I-64, Hampton:

• Full closure of the off-ramp from I-64 east to Rip Rap Road (exit 265C) April 14 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Brief, intermittent stoppages on I-64 in both directions from LaSalle Avenue (exit 265A) to the Hampton River Bridge April 15-19 from midnight to 4 a.m.
• Long-term, continuous single-lane closure on I-64 in both directions, reducing travel lanes from three to two lanes between Settlers Landing Road/Woodland Road (exit 267) and LaSalle Avenue (exit 265A), with I-64 west traffic shifted to the I-64 east lanes. View the full traffic alert.

I-64, Norfolk:

• Full closure of the on-ramp to I-64 east from Northampton Boulevard April 15-18 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Long-term traffic shift toward the inside median on I-64 in both directions between Tidewater Drive and Little Creek Road (exit 276)
• Long-term, continuous, single-lane closure on the I-64 west on-ramp to I-564 west

Norfolk, Reversible Roadway:

• Full closure in both directions:
  • Consecutively from April 12 at 8 p.m. to April 15 at 3 a.m.
  • April 15-19 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • April 18 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
  • Consecutively from April 19 at 8 p.m. to April 21 at 8 p.m.

Chesapeake/Norfolk/Virginia Beach: 

• Express Lane closed westbound between I-464 and the Twin Bridges April 14-18 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Express Lane closed eastbound between the I-264 and I-464 interchanges April 18 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-564

I-564, Norfolk:

• Brief, intermittent stoppages on the off-ramp from I-564 east to Little Creek Road April 14-20 from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m.
