The Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center is hosting an upcoming oil painting workshop led by the internationally recognized artist Robert Johnson this weekend.
Johnson, who studied at the Art Students league of New York, is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and Allied Artists of America whose work has been exhibited throughout the country. He is also the author of “On Becoming a Painter.”
The workshop will focus on painting flowers and other still life subjects, highlighting the expressive and descriptive power of oil paint as a medium in which to capture scenes from real life. Johnson will demonstrate the alla-prima approach to oil painting, which is accessible to all levels of painters.
The three-day workshop will take place at WCAC’s Art Education Center on Nov. 20 through 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is $325 for members and $350 for non-members.
