The annual Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade is looking for boaters to come aboard and join in the event’s 19th year of holiday fun.
The boat parade, one of Yorktown’s many holiday season offerings, is slated for Saturday, Dec. 5. It is open to festively decorated motorboats, sailboats and Chesapeake deadrise working boats.
Tuesday is the last day to register to participate in time to be featured in the event program.
After Tuesday, boaters can still register to participate up until the day before the parade, but they will not be able to have their names in the program.
All registered boaters will receive a Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade vessel pennant and captain’s bag regardless of when they sign up.
The festivities on the night of the parade will kick off at 6 p.m., when onlookers will gather at the the York River waterfront to enjoy caroling, hot cider and a beach bonfire while awaiting the arrival of the boats.
At the end of the evening the boat with the most holiday cheer will be awarded “Best In Show.”
