Update 11/09/15: Due to inclement weather, the pavers workshop has been reschedule to 11/20/15 at 9 a.m.
Original Post:
The Williamsburg Botanical Garden is partnering with Belgard Pavers and Site One Landscape Supply to bring both do-it-yourself homeowners and landscape contractors a hands-on class on working with concrete pavers.
Concrete pavers are sections of colored concrete material, usually produced as square or rectangular slabs, used for exterior flooring. Common uses include patios, sidewalks and driveways.
The Williamsburg Botanical Garden’s own Therapy Pavilion will be having pavers installed Nov. 7, creating an opportunity for an in-person, hands-on tutorial for individuals interested in undertaking paving projects in their own homes or through professional channels.
Topics covered in this class will span the entire range of steps in any paving project, including excavation, base preparation and materials, compaction, grading and drainage, bedding layer, laying pavers and jointing the materials.
Pre-registration for this workshop is required, and participants are asked to come prepared to work and dressed in appropriate clothing including gloves, safety glasses and sturdy, closed-toed shoes.
The class will take place rain or shine at 9 a.m. Nov. 7 and last until the project is completed. Lunch will be provided.
Registration by Nov. 5 is strongly recommended. This workshop is free but a $20 donation to the Williamsburg Botanical Garden is requested.
To register, call Peggy Krapf at 757-566-9088.
