Chesapeake Bank is excited to announce the 2023 partnership with the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce, Yes, Williamsburg Economic Development, James City County office of Economic Development, York County Economic Development, Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association (WARA), and 92.3FM The Tide & WYDaily.com as part of Chesapeake Bank’s annual “The Buck Stays Here” Holiday Campaign to boost the local economy.
This is a grassroots effort that will infuse $100,000 into local businesses in the greater Williamsburg area by offering $50.00 VISA gift cards to consumers for only $25.00. (Limit two cards per person.) This is a $10,000 increase from the 2022 campaign and the third year of the pop-up events.
“We are champions of small business and community,” says Reggie Rossignol, Community Manager, Chesapeake Bank. “These events are our way of supporting the locally owned and operated businesses in our markets, while helping consumers stretch their dollars at their favorite local spot.”
As Chesapeake’s mission implies, this effort is one more way they go “Beyond Banking” by coming together with community partnerships like these, increasing the awareness about the importance of local economy, and sharing resources.
This year’s events will take place from November 15 through December 20. Several new locations are in the mix:
- 11/15 at 12:00 p.m. The Edge: Dominion Dogs, Williamsburg Floral and Column
- 11/29 at 10:00 a.m. Williamsburg Jewelers, Anna’s Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta, and Perfectly Natural Soap **Please park at Wingate by Wyndham Hotel**

Events usually have a line in advance and sell out quickly, rain or shine. Customers may choose from either a Buck Stays Here VISA gift card that can be used at any local business or WARA Gift cards that can be used at any local restaurant. Customers may get one card of each or, both cards of the same type, but only two cards total, per person. Cash will not be accepted. All transactions are card only. First come, first serve, until sold out.
Additionally, shoppers are encouraged to visit The Buck Stays Here and Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce Directories for listings of local businesses where cards may be used if they would like to plan spending in advance.
