Non-Profit Spotlight: The Arc of Greater Williamsburg
The Arc of Greater Williamsburg has proudly served adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in greater Williamsburg since July 1976. The Arc is the only non-profit that serves this deserving population as they age out of special education at age 21 and continue throughout their lifetime. Their tagline, “The Arc is there when the school bus stops coming” helps to denote the people we are privileged to serve.
They provide 8-10 evening programs each month in four key program areas, Health & Fitness, Arts & Culture, Lifelong Learning, and Social/Recreational. They also provide a 4 day a week day program called Arc of Abilities and an employment program called Wheels4Work which provides well-qualified clients with meaningful employment with our partner businesses and reliable transportation. The Arc provides thousands of hours of respite time for families and caregivers when their loved one is at an event and engages over 300 community volunteers with meaningful volunteer opportunities. What sets us apart – we are the only organization that serves this population.

We have several ribbon cuttings coming up in our community, which the general public is usually invited to attend.
