Runners, take your positions! The third annual Heritage Humane Society’s FURever Homes 8k, 5k, and Pet Run is accepting registrations for the June 11, 2022 event.
Led by Presenting Sponsor Long & Foster Real Estate, the Heritage Humane Society welcomes all ages and levels of runners and walkers – including leashed pets — to join in the race of finding forever homes for furry friends in need. All event proceeds will benefit homeless pets at the Heritage Humane Society.
Held in Williamsburg, the FURever Homes race check-in and festivities are at Jamestown High School. While running or walking for the community cause, participants will wind through the shaded paths of the Greensprings Trail and parts of the Virginia Capital Trail. The primarily flat route weaves through protected forest, over scenic footbridges and through centuries of history as one of the first inland routes in North America.
Coming together to support the community
The FURever Homes Race was born out of the tugging of heartstrings to help homeless pets in the Great Williamsburg community and the passion of bringing people together to focus on health.
“I love the success that we have seen with the FURever Homes Races. When I first reached out to Kimberly Laska and the Heritage Humane Society, my goal was to create an event that would engage our community around our love for our pets, homes, families, and health,” shares Dave Berger, Owner of Venture out Virginia, and Managing Partner of Spoke & Art Provisions Co. “The partnerships with HHS, Long & Foster, and our many other sponsors have helped us grow this into an annual event to celebrate these original goals as well as help many pets in need along the way!”
For Ron Miscavige, Managing Broker of Long & Foster Real Estate, Presenting Sponsor of FURever Homes Race, the Heritage Humane Society has both his professional and personal support.
Miscavige shares, “Last December while attending an event at Heritage Humane Society, I met an adorable, cuddly and affectionate kitten who insisted I pick him up and hold him. I could barely put him down and within a few days he was part of my family. His name is Max and he’s now he’s the younger brother of my other cat, Mallory, who was also a humane society adoption. My love for these two wonderful companions is a big part of why Long & Foster Real Estate is the Presenting Sponsor for Heritage Humane Society’s FURever Homes Race, for the third-year running. We believe that a home is a big part of happiness – both for people and for our pets. So, we’re proud to support the mission of the Heritage Humane Society in every way we can.”
