WILLIAMSBURG — Second Street restaurant has named Chef Chris Long as managing partner, taking over day-to-day leadership from founders John and Mickey Chohany after more than 40 years in business.
Long has worked at the restaurant, which has locations in Williamsburg and Newport News, for more than 20 years. The Chohanys will remain involved in the business.
“The heart of this restaurant has always been the team — from the kitchen and the dining room to our management — and that spirit will continue to guide us in this next chapter,” Mickey Chohany said.
The restaurant plans two staff-recognition events, called Legacy Nights, to mark the change: Aug. 10 in Williamsburg and Aug. 24 in Newport News. Both will include dinner and remarks honoring longtime employees and customers.
Long said the leadership change won’t alter what regulars know about the restaurant.
“It is about carrying forward everything guests have loved about Second Street for more than four decades, while creating new memories for the years ahead,” he said.
The restaurant said it plans to introduce new seasonal dishes in the coming months.
