WILLIAMSBURG — Oak Counseling celebrated its one-year anniversary on May 30 with a ribbon cutting at its facilities on Jamestown Road.

Oak Counseling Services, led by Breanne Bass, specializes in working with children, adolescents, and those transitioning into adulthood, with an emphasis on those elementary and middle school-aged.

“[Adolescent mental health has] been an issue that’s been percolating in society with youth. I’m so glad to see what [Bass] is doing and the positive effects and influences that [Oak Counseling] has been able to have in this community,” said Del. Chad Green during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Bass started school during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on clinical mental health. Through that experience, and with the support of her husband, she decided she wanted to specialize in mental health for children.

“Something I’m passionate about is the education behind it, so helping the parents and helping the kids understand what’s going on and how we can work to better thrive with the way our brains work and our families,” explained Bass.
